Glossary

The terms used across LibChain and these docs.

Base fee: The per-gas price set by the protocol for each block and burned. See Lib Coin and fees.
Bech32: An address encoding with a readable prefix and a strong checksum (BIP-173). lib1 addresses are Bech32 with the prefix lib.
Chain ID: The number that identifies a network in signed transactions. Lib Testnet is 54210 (0xd3c2).
EIP-1193: The standard JavaScript interface between a web page and a wallet: provider.request({ method, params }).
EIP-6963: How several installed wallets announce themselves to a page, each with a name and icon, instead of competing for window.ethereum.
Faucet: A service that gives out free test coins. LibChain's gives 10 tLIB per address a day.
Finality: The point after which a transaction can't be undone. On LibChain, a sealed block is final.
Lib Coin (LIB): LibChain's native coin on mainnet. It pays every fee.
LibChain Hub: The web app at https://hub.libchain.tech for balances, transfers, wrapping and the faucet.
Lib Explorer: The block explorer at testnet.libchain.tech, built on Blockscout.
Lib Wallet: The self-custody browser wallet made for LibChain.
lib1 address: The Bech32 form of an account, for example lib1suzj78chk26q2jcpf6f720tvumwfz276ynschv. Same account as its 0x form.
Priority fee (tip): The optional per-gas amount a sender adds for the validator that seals the block.
Proof of authority: A consensus model where a known set of validators produces blocks, instead of miners or stakers.
QBFT: The Byzantine fault tolerant proof-of-authority protocol LibChain uses. Tolerates up to a third of validators failing.
tLIB: The native coin on Lib Testnet. Free from the faucet, no market value.
Validator: A node allowed to propose and seal blocks under QBFT.
WalletConnect: A protocol for connecting a phone wallet to a website by QR code or deep link. LibChain Hub and Lib Explorer support it through Reown AppKit.
WtLIB: Wrapped tLIB, an ERC-20 backed 1:1 by tLIB. See Wrapped tLIB.
